According to the Academy's Class of 2023 announcement, election to the National Academy of Engineering is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. Academy membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to "engineering research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature" and to "the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education."

Jennifer Sinclair Curtis, distinguished professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of California, Davis and CISTAR Scientific Advisory Board. For work on particle-laden flows and industrially used algorithms for dilute and dense-phase gas-solid flow.

Jeffery Bricker, senior director, UOP LLC, Honeywell International Inc., Des Plaines, Ill and CISTAR Industrial Advisory Board member. For a fundamental approach to catalysis resulting in environmentally safe technologies used globally in refining and petrochemical industries.
