CISTAR Congrats: Jeff Brinker elected to the National Academy of Sciences

CISTAR congratulates Jeff Brinker, Distinguished and Regent’s Professor, Emeritus at the University of New Mexico, as he has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS).
(May 4, 2021) – CISTAR congratulates Jeff Brinker, Distinguished and Regent’s Professor, Emeritus at the University of New Mexico, as he has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS).
 
Brinker is one of 120 new members this year. New members are elected for their “distinguished and continuing achievements in original research,” according to the National Academy of Sciences website. The elite group has a total of 2,461 active members currently.
 
Over his career, Brinker has been recognized with numerous recognitions including election to the National Academy of Engineering (2002), Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences (2018), earned the Lifetime Achievement Award in Sol-Gel Science and Technology (2017), elected to the National Academy of Inventors (2015) and received a UNM Presidential Medal of Distinction (2015) in addition to many others.
