Phillips 66 is seeking applicants for a Research Engineer/Data Scientist position in the Digital Products group at its Energy Research & Innovation organization in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The candidate will join a team working to build models to address complex problems across the businesses and research areas of Phillips 66.

 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Use domain knowledge and advanced statistical and machine learning methods to solve science and engineering problems
  • Balance pr­­iorities between multiple applied research projects and propose new research directions
  • Analyze experimental, pilot plant and commercial data to develop subject specific models
  • Develop broadly applicable models and tools for data analysis and visualization
  • Write code for frontend and backend software to support model deployment
  • Work with stakeholders to identify the value proposition
  • Communicate results through reports and presentations

Qualifications

Basic/Required:

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering or closely related engineering or science discipline
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data generated from chemical and physical processes
  • Experience with applied statistical and machine learning approaches for data analysis
  • Competence in programming using statistical and engineering languages (e.g. Python, R, Julia)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience in working in collaborative team environments
