The Process Systems Engineer will work in the Energy Research and Innovation division of Phillips 66.  The successful applicant will provide mathematical modeling and optimization support for Phillips 66 business units. 


Responsibilities May Include:

  • Building and validating mathematical models of physical, chemical, and energy processes suitable for optimization
  • Applying mathematical models for optimization of commercial operations
  • Creating innovative ideas for the application of process systems engineering techniques to operations
  • Collaborating with laboratory, pilot plant, and commercial operations to collect data needed for model development
  • Communicating work results through written reports and presentations 

 

Basic / Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline
  • Ability to present and explain technical information to diverse audiences
  • Competence in programming using engineering tools (e.g. Python, Matlab)
  • Experience building and solving nonlinear programming models with optimization solvers (e.g. IPOPT, Baron, Gurobi)
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data generated from chemical and physical processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
